Applicability:  Relevant to “FAD Sets Alleged Infringements” “Observer Obstruction Alleged Infringements”, “Shark Catch Alleged Infringements”, “ROP Pre-Notification Issues” and the “Cetaceans and Whale Shark Interactions” compliance case file lists.


The key observer trip information needed to commence investigations of one or more cases is provided in the “Observed Vessel Trip” view. 

  • Vessel Trip: is provided in the format of VESSEL NAME Name [trip start date YYYY-MM-DD to trip end date YYYY-MM-DD] 
  • Flag CCM: is the flag CCM at the time of the relevant vessel trip
  • Vessel name: provides a hyperlink to the full vessel details that are currently contained in the WCPFC Record of Fishing Vessels.  
  • Observer provider: is provided as a two letter country ID with the suffix OB. (the complete list of authorised ROP observer programmes and their associated two letter codes can be accessed from the Regional Observer Programme page on the WCPFC website, for ease of reference these are the two subregional observer programmes:= FAOB = PNA Observer Agency and TTOB = FFA Observer Programme,)
  • Provider Trip Number: is the national or subregional observer programme assigned trip number 
  • Trip Number: is part of the SPC/FFA observer trip number, but excludes the Observer identifier
  • Debriefing status: is a choice of “Pre-debriefed” “De-briefed” or blank.   This is the debriefing status at the time the compliance case was notified.  
  • Vessel charter details: This indicates the details of any WCPFC charter notification that included the period of the trip, and if it was received by WCPFC at the time the compliance case was notified.


Option1: Access an Observed Vessel Trip using “By Vessel Trip” View

  1. Select “By Vessel Trip” view (see red box in screenshot below).  If the “By Vessel Trip” view isn’t shown, it can be accessed by clicking on the three dots () shortcut
  2. To see a list of the relevant cases for that trip, within a particular compliance case list, click on the icon shown in blue circle in the below screenshot.  
  3. Click on the hyperlink (yellow box in below screenshot) which will be in the following format on the left of Vessel Trip: VESSEL NAME Name [trip start date YYYY-MM-DD to trip end date YYYY-MM-DD] this takes you to the relevant “Observed Vessel Trip” 


Option2: Access an “Observed Vessel Trip” view from within the view of an individual case

Click on the hyperlink (yellow box in below screenshot) which will be in the following format on the left of Vessel Trip: VESSEL NAME Name [trip start date YYYY-MM-DD to trip end date YYYY-MM-DD] this takes you to the “Observed Vessel Trip”
